Common And Unusual Pregnancy Symptoms

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Pregnancy symptoms are not something that a woman will like to have as they can be dreadful. Certain women might have unpleasant symptoms but others could have pretty mild ones. The lucky few will simply have no such complaint. For a pregnant woman, it is necessary to know about the difference types of symptoms so as to tell if they are common or unusual ones. Then you would be able to check with a doctor if they are unusual.

First you will like to understand what the common pregnancy symptoms are so that you can manage it as they come. Each pregnancy is different so the experience will be different for every time you conceive. Reading about it is just the beginning but when you are the one conceiving, you will have to bear it by yourself. Through recognizing the common pregnancy symptoms, you can then prepare well ahead to control the stress better. For more precise information, you can consult your physician.

On the other hand, unusual pregnancy is something that causes awful pain or intense discomfort that can adversely affect your day-to-day existence. The symptoms are something that make you take leave from work for a few days so ensures that you discuss with your physician as soon as possible. Women are typically intuitive and can tell if they have unusual symptoms and always exercise the greatest care if you have misgivings as the physician is only a call away.

Morning sickness is one of the most prevalent pregnancy symptoms that will afflict most of the women who are conceiving but there are few lucky ones who will never contract it. Morning sickness usually occurs in the first semester but alas for some, it will last throughout the whole pregnancy. The name might imply it occurs in the morning but the fact is that it can occur throughout the whole day.

Another prevailing sign is backaches and it can occur early during the pregnancy or most possibly in the third semester. Majority of them will get backaches as they are due to rising hormone level in your body. If they are serious, then it is time to seek the advice of a physician to find some kind of cure.

The other common pregnancy symptom if the crave for food that can set you off hankering for food that you thought you have never enjoyed them before. The carving can last all the way through the whole pregnancy and usually pregnant women will prefer sour food such as pickles on top of other like ice cream.

Aside from common signs, there are other unusual symptoms that can send chill down the spine. It makes for nervous reading but you have to research on them to plan well in advance. When you are down with such symptoms, the first thing you do is to call the doctor as unusual signs of pregnancy can result in miscarriage if you choose to ignore them.

Whatever pregnancy symptoms you require to endure, be it common or unusual ones always be prepared for them so that you will not be overwhelmed when the occasions crop up. Pregnancy is a pleasure and if it is devoid of any symptoms, then you are just blessed but seeing it all the way through to deliver your bundle of joy is the ultimate bliss.

How does an ectopic pregnancy and ovarian cyst affect a home pregnancy test?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Two weeks ago I experienced my first cramps and still am feeling them mostly on the left side. I feel tired. And my period is now 7 days late. But I’ve taken 4 pregnancy tests in the last 3 days and all are negative, I’m not stressed my school is currently in fall break. My last menstrual was on sept 9.

If you are really worried go to the doctor and they can get you checked out to be sure. They can do a blood test and those are usually very accurate. I wouldn’t overly stress about it yet, until you know if your pregnant or not. cramping in pregnancy doesn’t always mean something bad is happening. also, if you were having an ectopic pregnancy, you would be in alot of horrible stomach pain, and you would most likely be bleeding. but still check with your doctor just to be safe. good luck.

How far into your pregnancy did you give Lovenox injections in your stomach?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

I’m about 25 weeks pregnant with my first child & have been on Lovenox injections of 120mg/day since I was 13 weeks due to a stroke. I’ve been giving myself the injections in my stomach & love handles since I began. Is it safe to continue in the stomach area throughout your whole pregnancy? I’m just worried about the needle coming too close to the baby as my pregnancy progresses. Has anyone given themselves injections in their stomach throughout their entire pregnancy or were you forced to move to a different area? Thanks!

I have been on Lovenox with both of my pregnancies. The first time I started at 27 weeks after a DVT was found in my left thigh. And the entire time with my second child. I started them in my first pregnancy in my stomach and love handles. However, I was having a lot of pain with them there. And the bruises were horrible. I have always been rather thin and I had no fat on my stomach and very little in the love handle area. So my doctor allowed me have mine put in my rear (my husband did them) and that worked out for me. Although I have heard of many people taking them the entire pregnancy in their stomach. It is perfectly safe to put them there. I don’t think you can hit the baby with that short of a needle (although I know it doesn’t feel short in your stomach) Although you can always ask your doctor. He/she might allow you to change the place like mine did.

Take care, I know those shots aren’t fun.
