what are your opinions on teenage pregnancy?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

my sisters 16 and left school last may and is almost 17. since leaving school, the majority of her friends have had a child or are pregnant with their first…we think this is shocking. your opinions? not just about my sisters friends but your opinions on teenage pregnancies in general?

I think it’s a hard life to choose for yourself.

It’s livable, but it’s hard. I think most people who get pregnant as teenagers wish they had waited.

Teenage pregnancy. ?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Today I was on the bus and I saw a teenage mum (about 16/17) with her baby. She looked well-dressed and so did the baby (I only say this because I know what some people on here say about teenage mums) and when she got on the bus a middle aged woman (late forties) went past her when getting off the bus and said" you shoudl be ashamed of yourself having a baby so young" and got off the bus. The girl looked updset but as if she’s had all this before.
What I want to knwo is why are teenage mums treated in this way?
I know that not everyone feels this way towards them but some do and it upsets me.
She looked like a wonderful mum paying lots of attention to her baby and giggling along with her (again I only add this because of certain people’s views that all teenage mums are bad mums)
It really upset me to think that there are people so nasty out there. I’d hate to think that if I became pregnant (hope to god i don’t, 17 and on pill and condom) that I’d be treated like this.
Your opinions?
My views on it are that although I think ti is young, the girl is taking on alot of responsibility by taking on a child which is what they should do if they were prepared to have sex in the 1st place.
I don’t think anyone should feel against it as I’m sure teenagers are doing their best and alot better than some other mothers as they feel they have somethign to prove to the rest of society.
and to the person who said whore:
it only takes one missed pill or one split condom or even being on both and being that 1%.
I feel that girls should definitly not be planning to have kids at a young age under say 20 but if it does happen by mistake I have nothing against it, they are doing the mature thing by keeping the baby.
Due June 23, 2009 with #1 :
It’s people like you that will grow up to be that woman.
Maybe that girl didn’t plan for her pregnancy and it was a mistake, she did the mature thing and kept the baby.
You don’t know her situation so how can you say any of that.
I hate the fact that there are all those bad teenage mums out there giving the good ones a bad name but the thing is there are bad mothers in their twenties and thirties so shouldn’t they be a bad name to older mothers?
No they aren’t portrayed like that because of the media. The media annoys me so much grrrr :( I didnt say anything because as soon as the woman said it she got off the bus. What was I meant to do?

Yes I disagree with 14 year olds having sex with strangers and sleeping around etc.
However this girl and many other teenage mums may have been in a long term relationship, on birth control or accidently missed it once, I know that this isn’t always the case but quite alot of the time it is except that adults say that we are irresponsible as teenagers so must not have been on birth control or shouldn’t be having sex.

Do you believe that teenage pregnancy is a new phenomenon ?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

People been so quick to blame celebrities for this, yet teenage pregnancy has been happening since intercourse was invented…so do you believe that teenagers today have decided this is the latest fad or do you think that this is a problem that has been occurring for a very long time?

Every few years, some article comes out, alerting us to the fact that teenagers have sex & get pregnant….

newsflash: This has been happening since the dawn of time…

Average life expectancy pre-1900’s was in the 50’s… middle ages it was even earlier.

Teens routinely married & had families…. it was no big deal…

It’s only the past 100 or so years….since we have become "enlightened"…. that teen sex & pregnancy has become taboo… primarily because of the extreme right.

As sure as the sun rises, and the sun sets… teens will continue to engage in sexual activity…until nature finds a way to turn of the hormones that is.

Experience has shown time and time and time again….education is the best method to reduce teen pregnancy rates.

Anyone who thinks avoiding the conversation about sex…and safe sex practices is going to reduce teen pregnancy rates is living in another realm…another world… and not a realistic one at that.

Are police officers responsible for the rise in teenage pregnancy in Britain?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Since Labour got into power in 1997 the number of police officers has increased year on year. Not surprisingly the number of teenage pregnancies has followed exactly the same trend. Is this conclusive proof then that policemen are in some way responsible?

Good one.

Please help me 1. A statement of teenage pregnancy 2. A method to investigate teenage pregnancy 3. interpretation of teenage pregnancy 4. Findings of teenage pregnancy 5. Recommendations Can i please get help to do this!

1. Teenage pregnancy is an epidemic.
2. To investigate you should create an online survey for pregnant teens exploring their situations.
3. Teen pregnancy is women between the ages of 13 and 19 who are pregnant.
4. Consequences created by the situation (the pregnant teen)
5. Better sex ed in school would definitely help with prevention.

I really hope this helps you but I don’t know if I understood what you were looking for.
